Year 5/6 at the River Meon
Year 5/6 have spent three days of high quality Geography sessions with Ross Irving from the Wessex Rivers Trust.
The children have learnt about the river from source to sea. This consisted of understanding the features of the river ; what wildlife is on the river and how human activity has had an impact on the river. They then visited the river in the village, for some high quality fieldwork to enrich their geography curriculum. Ross got the children to investigate whether the river is healthy by looking for key indicators of a healthy chalk stream river. Back in school the children looked closer at their finds using electronic microscopes and making sketches. Brilliant learning for the children and great CPD for the staff!
