Y6 Calshot
Year 6 - Calshot (HCC Outdoor Activity Centre), New Forest, Hampshire - November
In Year 6, we visit Calshot Activities Centre for a week-long residential. During our stay we take part in a wide variety of different activities. For our geography and science field trips, we learn to accurately map and measure rivers, test the acidity level of soils, investigate the natural processes which affect the coastline and discover a wide range of wiggly creatures living on the beach and in the Solent. The experiences gained are not only fun but also linking previous curriculum learning in school - especially coastal erosion and our 'Source to Sea' geography topic as well as integrating our 'Skills for Learning'
We also take part in a range of adventurous activities such as skiing, climbing, archery, low and high ropes, indoor go ape and cycling in the velodrome, all of which the children absolutely love. We then celebrate our successes and evaluate each day, often after a hearty dinner!
