Year 5/6 River Meon Trip

July 16, 2019 all-day

Dear Parents,

Embracing the outdoors environment, we will be doing some field work and looking at the historical geography of the River Meon. This will be based within walking distance of the school. The trip will take place on morning of 16th July.

Children will:

 Measure the width, depth and speed of the river

 Identify living animals from the river

 Sketch the surroundings

Children will need to bring:

 Wellies

 A change of long trousers due to stinging nettles

 A waterproof jacket (if the weather is unfavourable)

 Waterproof trousers (if owned)

 A rucksack large enough to carry all their belongings

 Waterbottle

 Suncream (if it is due to be sunny)

 Hat (if it is due to be sunny)

We will leave school after registration and spend the morning investigating the flow and contents of the river. Children will be getting into the river (in shallow parts) so longer wellies are advised, rather than short ones.

We appreciate that you have had lots of paperwork to return to school this term and therefore we will assume that we have consent to take your children on this outing, unless you contact the office to state otherwise.

We will need some parent helpers for this trip so please let the office know by Friday 5th July is you are able to help for the morning.

Kind Regards,
