Year 4 Runways End Trip 2021

April 22, 2021 – April 23, 2021 all-day

Dear Parents,

Due to current guidance and education restrictions we still aren’t able to take our children on a residential.  This is a real shame – especially as your child missed the Year 3 camp last year as well.

Outdoor education is so important for many reasons – new learning experiences, opportunities to develop collaboration with peers and adults, developing fitness and wellbeing and ultimately great, great fun!

Although the residential element cannot happen, we do have the opportunity to take the children on two consecutive day trips, to participate in the day activities at a much reduced cost!  I know the residential element is so important – we are hopeful we can offer this again, next academic year at the latest.

However the children can still go to Runways End and participate in some amazing activities (all led by Hampshire outdoor activity centre staff) – Climbing; archery; low ropes; orienteering; shooting; vertical gym and team building skills this year!

As the trip will not be residential we will be taking the Year 4s on a coach.  As this is public transport children will have to wear a mask and (try) face forwards at all times.  The children will be sat in their class bubbles and at least 5 Droxford Junior staff will be in attendance too.

The cost of the activities for two days is £65 and the coach costs for both days is £20. As this has had to be organised at such short notice, we will be asking for the full amount £85 to be paid (rather than the traditional deposit and balance at a later date) no later than 30th March 2021. Please contact the School Office if this is not possible in this time frame.

The coach will LEAVE the square at 8:30am and return approx. 5:30pm each day.  We will register the children in the village hall – please just drop off and leave as the square gets so busy.  We will notify you as we leave via Class Dojo.

Children need a big packed lunch and snacks (no nut based products) and a water bottle.  It will be a non school uniform event.  Hopefully the weather will be fine and jeans a fleece and trainers will suffice.

Full Balance by 30th March 2021

The Williams Collins Charity

This charity was set up in the seventeenth century in Corhampton to provide for the education of children in the parish.  The original endowment now provides an annual income which is managed by local people and can provide financial help towards the cost of residentials.  Applicants must live within the parish boundaries of Corhampton, Meonstoke, Droxford or Exton and provide evidence of financial need.  If you would like more details and an application form, please contact the school office.  Several families a year benefit from this charity, enabling their children to attend residentials.  If your child does not live in the parish boundaries the governors may be able to support families who may be experiencing financial difficulties. A copy of the application form is on our website.

If you have any queries regarding the trip please do not hesitate the School Office

Yours sincerely
